Wondering if anyone hacked into the registry and modify the settings that Microsoft developers messed up. Windows being a machine anyone can fix is not true anymore. When I search this issue anywhere, all I see is sad comments with no solution and how Microsoft wants to rip their customers (my i7, 16GB model costed $2000 when I bought it) or people having no clue about the issue, giving recommendations like cleaning ports or blaming user error, etc. I appreciate any inputs on a different approach. However, this method didn't allow me to select the partitions and location where OS need to be installed. However, by selecting other options from sub-menus helped me to erase all data and install the OS from the USB drive. Using USB when I tried to fresh install the OS, the fresh installation screen reboots to the same USB boot screen when install from USB is selected. Re-installing the OS using USB - For some reason with the updates, Microsoft corrupted the system.Recovery method - From recovery option, I tried the repair and reset method with no luck.Resetting the laptop - I did a factory reset of the tablet by deleting all the files and data, didn't help. Some in different forums claim that this method fixed the issue temporarily, but I wasn't lucky Enable/Disable surface cover in UEFI - Disabled the surface cover in UEFI boot screen, rebooted the system re-enabled the surface cover and rebooted the system.I saw some people were able to find short time fix with old BIOS screen, but the new graphical UI UEFI screen doesn't respond to the keyboard BIOS set-up - my surface pro 4 got the UEFI instead of BIOS (which I think is the main culprit for all the surface cover problems).Driver easy - This software helps to recognize and install the required hardware, as recommended in a website, but the software shows all keyboard related drivers are up-to-date and the surface cover keyboard was not listed among the others.Device manager, enable and disable - Device manager doesn't show the surface cover, however I tried to update, uninstall/reinstall, enable/disable the HID driver for the keyboard.Cleaning ports - I cleaned the ports with rubbing alcohol, where the keyboard connects to the tablet.I tried the following solutions so far, but none of the following fixed the problem: There can't be any physical damage as the device is used delicately. I tried everything I could find in different forums, but no luck so far. However, my surface got a new 1903 update, but sadly it didn't fix the problem. Have you found any solution? I have the same problem from a month, not sure if it is the update (I keep updating as and when there is an update).
